Ashburn Elementary School Safety Patrol Leaders
The role of the AAA School Safety Patrol is to organize and teach dedicated student volunteers to direct their peers in safely interacting with school traffic.
AAA School Safety Patrol members are school-sponsored student volunteers from upper elementary grades, middle and junior high schools.
Patrollers direct children, not traffic. As school-age leaders in traffic safety, patrol members teach other students about traffic safety on a peer-to-peer basis. They also serve as examples for younger children, who look up to them.
AAA School Safety Patrol Leaders:
Complete training in traffic safety.
Protect students from hazards of crossing roads and highways on their way to and from school.
Assist bus drivers in safely transporting students to and from school.
Teach fellow students about traffic safety.
Serve in other leadership roles under the direction of school officials.
I promise to do my best to:
Report for duty on time.
Perform my duties faithfully.
Strive to prevent injuries, always setting a good example myself.
Obey my teachers and officers of the patrol.
Report dangerous student practices.
Strive to earn the respect of fellow students.
Safety Patrol Expectations:
1. Take your job seriously.
2. Respect all who cross at your post. Your duty is to help keep your community and peers safe, not to discipline. Be courteous to students and all adults. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
3. Be alert on your post.
4. Perform your duty to the best of your ability.
5. Patrols must keep up with their class work and homework responsibilities.
6. Be on time to your post. If for any reason you cannot be at your post, please contact your Safety Patrol Captain or Mrs. Kachel.
The official look of the AAA School Safety Patrol is the fluorescent yellow/green Sam Browne belt. Belts should be worn over the right shoulder and clasped in the front. Badges should be pinned on the shoulder strip of the belt, at chest level. The only time the badge should be removed from the belt is when the badge or belt is being cleaned. Repeated removal of the badge will eventually cause the pin to break.
Students that will miss/missed our summer training session need to watch this 20 minute video AND read the booklet they were given AND complete the Membership Application with a parent/guardian signature.
