What does a Student Trainer do?

Student trainers are a vital part of all of our athletic programs.  The following is  just a few of the responsibilities you will have when you become a student trainer.

Set Up and Break down

Student trainers help set up and break down our medical supplies such as water, AED, Splint Bag, and Training Kits for practices. Teams can practice before school, after school,  during school periods, as well as weekends and holidays.

Taping

Student trainers will help tape athletes for injuries or to prevent injuries. Student trainers will also provide minor wound care to athletes.

Game Coverage

Student trainers will cover sporting events for the teams they are assigned. These games can be at home or away.

 What do Student Trainers learn?

Current Medical Practices

Student trainers receive first hand experience observing and working with all types of athletic injuries from start to finish. This experience is a great jumpstart into many medical professions.

First Aid and CPR

Student trainers will be first Aid and CPR certified starting their first year and every year after while they are in the program.  As a senior they will leave with another year of certification to help them in college.

Professionalism

Student trainers will develop real world skills necessary to join the work force. Skills such as interview techniques, job communication, responsibilities, and hourly commitments are only a few of these skills.

Medical Knowledge

Student trainers will get an interdisciplinary education in areas such as Anatomy, Medical Terminology, Emergency Medicine, Nutrition, Sports Psychology, Orthopedics, and Taping techniques.

Thank you for your commitment to Partiot Athletic Training!!
