Welcome to Ms. Gomes' World History AP class! Let me introduce myself! This is my 18th year at Jordan High School. I grew up in a small farm town in the Central Valley and moved to Long Beach for college. I graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a B.A. in History and Sociology Minor. I later went back to school and obtained my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education. Most recently I became a National Board Certified Teacher. I am currently working with a team of teachers and staff from UCI History Project and LBUSD on curriculum for a grant through the 1619 Project. I have also been an AP Reader for 6 years scoring AP World Exams for College Board. This professional development helps me to continually learn and grow as a History educator and better serve my students. I am faculty advisor of Key Club and enjoy supporting students in their extracurricular activities. Ms. Del Cid and I coached the J-Town Running Club for 15 years and I enjoy long-distance running and the excitement of students crossing the finish line of the Los Angeles Marathon. I am Mamá to my boy, Tiago. I also enjoy camping and hiking and being in nature and the outdoors. I am excited to work with you this year.
