History/Social Science Mission Statement

The mission of the History Office is to provide curriculum, assessments, coaching, professional development and resources to history educators in LBUSD in order to serve students, parents, families and the community. History educators provide all students with access to rigorous course work when asking students to actively participate in collaborative, inquiry-based history lessons and projects. Students engage in critical thinking, as well as, understand the major themes, patterns of human interaction, concepts, significant events, turning points, and people shaping history.

History/Social Science Vision Statement

History education prepares students for college and careers through the application of historical thinking and literacy skills, aligned to the History-Social Science Content Standards for California Public Schools and the Common Core State Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (CCSS).
