Thank you for a successful conference. We hope you will join us for NUG 2025. Until then, enjoy video of the 2024 event.
NUG 2024 will be held in downtown Berkeley at the Marriott Residence Inn.
Select events will be held in Shyh Wang Hall (Building 59) on the campus of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab). Transportation between venues will be provided.
Perched on the hillside above UC Berkeley overlooking the San Francisco Bay, Wang Hall houses the NERSC data center and free cooling infrastructure on its first two floors. NERSC shares the top two floors of offices with Berkeley Lab's two computational and mathematics research divisions and ESnet, which operates the DOE's high-speed science network.
This year's event venue is the Marriot Residence Inn, so many attendees will choose to stay there for convenience. However, there are many other other short-stay options, some within easy walking distance of the venue.
A few options:
Berkeley Lab Guest House - (510) 495-8000, Email: Tori@berkeleylabguesthouse.org
Doubletree by Hilton Berkeley - Marina - (510) 548-7920 or (800) 222-TREE (8733)
Downtown Berkeley Inn - (510) 843-4043
The Graduate Hotel Berkeley - (510) 845-8981 or (800) 238-7268
Hotel Shattuck Plaza - (510) 845-7300
Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Berkeley Lab is easily accessible by two local airports: Oakland (OAK) and San Francisco (SFO). The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) light rail system connects both airports to downtown Berkeley. Refer to the airports' websites for information on rideshare services, taxi cabs, and other ground transportation options.
The San Francisco Bay Area's, many public transit systems are the best way to get around the area. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is the intercity light rail system. In addition, each city, county, or region operates its own local transit system. In Berkeley, AC Transit is the local system. San Francisco's Municipal Railway (MUNI) serves the city and county of San Francisco. Local commuter ferries also offer a fun (and fast) way to get between major cities around the San Francisco Bay.
While prices and routes will vary between systems, nearly all accept the Clipper Card as a means of payment. You can purchase an adult Clipper card for $3 at one of several locations (including any BART station) or order it online before you arrive.
Transportation will be provided for events held on the Berkeley Lab Campus.
