Upcoming Opportunities for Engagement

1. Contribute articles to a special issue to be published in WRR and Earth's Future

Call Open from March 1 2021 to Dec 31 2022

The Early Career Network-of-Networks is involved in a special collection of articles that will be published in AGU’s Earth’s Future or Water Resources Research journals. This special collection is expected to bring together new research on myriad aspects of critical zone science, including advancements in our understanding of physical and biogeochemical processes, implications for human and ecosystem health, effects on water resources and critical infrastructure, and impacts of disturbance. This collection will enhance sharing of concepts, data, methods, and insights from many disciplines, sites and networks.

2. Town hall event @ the 2022 AGU Fall Meeting

The agenda for the event is here

The Early Career Network-of-Networks committee and participants have thus far focused on: (1) identifying high-priority science questions to advance critical zone science; (2) assessing needs and approaches to openly share data, sensing and modeling tools; and (3) discussing partnerships and modes that could maximize the ability of the next-generation scientists to address the priority questions.

The goals of the town hall event are to advance collaboration across critical zone networks, providing a foundation to address these pressing challenges using a global critical zone network-of-networks approach.

This Town Hall will provide an opportunity to learn about outcomes synthesized from the three workshops and related activities, and to contribute to the future of this global critical zone effort. Principal investigators, early career scientists and students, as well as representatives from the government, industry, and philanthropic organizations are invited to participate.

When: Thursday , Dec 8, 10:45 -11:45 AM PST
