Sarah Poon is a Product and User Experience (UX) designer and researcher, who focuses on applying modern design principles to improve scientific computing. Sarah is particularly interested in how UX can be used to design UIs for the "expert use" systems that are endemic to scientific computing, such as software to perform complex and technical workflows, to analyze and manage large volumes of data, and to support highly focused tasks requiring quick decision making in real-time. Correctness and accuracy are critical in these environments. At the same time, she aims to design software that is intuitive and even "delightful" to use. Sarah received her Masters in Information Management and Systems from the School of Information at UC Berkeley.

Johanna (Hannah) is interested in facilitating high quality research through high quality tools. Hannah received her PhD in Information Science from the University of Texas at Austin, advised by James Howison. With Dr. Howison, Hannah studied open source software development and sustainability efforts. Her other doctoral research, inspired by her earlier employment at the Center for Open Science, focused on open science infrastructure development, use, and non-use. As a postdoc at the University of Utah, Hannah worked with the Flux Research Group and Dr. Jason Wiese, doing user research for the Flux group's cloud computing testbed, CloudLab. Hannah received her BA in Cognitive Science from the University of Virginia.
