History
The sixth grade history curriculum will focus on the ancient cultures of hunters/gathers, Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Egypt, Ghana/Mali, China, Japan, Korea, the Middle East, the Middle Ages of Europe and the pre-Columbian Americas. Specific skills which will be incorporated into each theme include: finding longitude/latitude, using timelines, using maps to locate political and physical features, analyzing cause/effect relationships and determining the role of social institutions such as religion, economy and government. Students will use the textbook and other teacher created materials and internet resources.
