English II is a writing-intensive course. Students will complete vocabulary, spelling, and daily oral language exercises. They will be expected to respond on a daily basis to journal prompts. Students will be able to identify the types of writing. They will also write numerous formal and informal pieces applying the skills and thoughts needed for each type. Some of the pieces may include: a vignette, character portrayal, object/scene description, compare/contrast essay, anecdote, personal narrative, autobiography, memoir, editorials, advertisements, persuasive essays/letters, and public service announcements. Students will also prepare a piece of their writing for a formal presentation/speech.
