Meet the Lawrence Public Schools Transition Specialist Team
We are the Lawrence Public Schools Transition Specialist Team from the Office of Student Support Services (OSSS):
Elizabeth Hogue, Jessica Palmariello, Ruby LeBlanc, Rosangela Amaro, and Sara Bedell
Our team supports transition-age students across middle and high school, with a focus on strengthening the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, conducting transition assessments, and connecting students with meaningful programs, opportunities, and community services.
Transition planning begins in middle school, when students start exploring their strengths, interests, and goals for the future. During these early years, students are encouraged to participate in their IEP meetings, practice self-advocacy skills, and learn about the supports that will help them succeed in high school. Families are introduced to transition concepts and guided through discussions about independence, expectations, and available programs.
As students move into high school, transition planning becomes more personalized and action-focused—helping them prepare for college, career training, employment, or independent living.
The Transition Team collaborates closely with families, educators, and community partners to ensure every student’s plan reflects their individual strengths, interests, and goals. We also partner with agencies such as MassAbility, DDS, and DMH, and guide families through important processes like the 688 referral to support a smooth transition to adult services.
