Preparation for Students

At home, parents can help support and prepare their children for SBAC testing by utilizing the resources.

During school, students participate in a variety of activities over the course of the year to help the prepare to be successful on the SBAC tests. 

1. Practice Testing: Students are encouraged to prepare for Summative Assessments through the use of the CAASPP Practice Test website. Students can access this site 24/7 and can use it familiarize themselves with the variety of question types as well as practice with the embedded Universal Tools which are available to all students.

2. Interim Assessments Blocks (IABs): These are smaller versions of the Summative Assessment and measure incremental learning throughout the year in ELA and Math. These assessments also help teachers guide and inform their instruction and helps them to identify learning gaps that may exist with their students. For more information about IABs, click here.

3. District and content specific assessments: Other assessments are given throughout the year that are similar in format, scope and rigor to the SBAC Summative Assessments. These assessments help teachers by providing information about where students need additional support.
