Priya grew up in the Bay Area and attended UC San Diego for undergrad. She was a political science major and president of the school's mock trial program. During her gap year she worked for two employment litigation firms in San Francisco. This summer she interned at the California Office of the Attorney General in the Health, Education, and Welfare section and is interested in pursuing a career in litigation. This year she is also an Academic Co-chair for the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association, Vice President of First Generation Professionals, and a member of the Hale Moot Court Honors Program. In her free time Priya enjoys photography,"so-bad-they're-good" movies, and playing Tetris. SALSA was one of the best parts of her 1L experience and she is excited to meet the new class!
Rav Purewal is a rising 2L who was born and raised in Southern California. She graduated from UCLA with a degree in Political Science, and Human Biology and Society. During her 1L summer, she interned at the Riverside County Counsel's office. Rav is a part of SALSA, Health Law Society, Graduate Student Government, Student Body Association, and First Generation Professionals. In her free time, she likes to watch Netflix standup specials and (now) at-home workouts. She can't wait to meet new members of SALSA!
Alyssa is originally from New York and moved to Los Angeles to attend Gould. During her 1L and 2L years, she was in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program, served on the boards of SALSA and the Womxn of Color Collective, and served as a First Year Peer Mentor and a 1L Representative for the Student Bar Association. This summer, Alyssa worked as a summer associate at Morrison & Forester LLP in Los Angeles, where she will be returning as an associate in the Litigation group after graduation. During her 1L summer, she externed for a federal judge in the Central District of California. Alyssa graduated from Dartmouth College in 2017 with a B.A. in sociology. Before college, she was an internationally competitive figure skater for over a decade. When she isn’t in school or doing things with SALSA friends, she enjoys photography, art, baking, hiking, and listening true crime podcasts. She can’t wait to welcome the new 1Ls to SALSA!
Reena was born and raised in the Bay Area but fell in love with SoCal after attending UCSD for undergrad. She took a gap year to work at a small law firm in San Francisco and was ecstatic to move back to SoCal for law school! She is grateful for the close-knit South Asian community at Gould and is excited to meet the incoming 1L's. This past summer she worked as a judicial extern for a federal judge in the Central District of California and was exposed to a variety of litigation matters. She is currently interested in practicing business litigation but is looking forward to exploring other practice areas while at Gould. Reena is also involved with the Business Law Society, First Generation Professionals, and Womxn of Color Collective. Fun fact: Reena was a competitive Bollywood dancer from the ages of 8-20 and is always up for an impromptu dance party!
Nayar was born and raised in Los Angeles and graduated from Loyola Marymount University as a political science major in 2019. There, she was involved on campus by working as a research assistant for her political science professor, conducting research about global refugee populations. This summer she worked as a law clerk at Public Counsel. As a 2L, she will be a peer mentor in addition to being the Outreach Chair for SALSA. She is excited to meet the class of 2023 and the new members of SALSA!
Sonal was born in London, UK and grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He graduated in 2015 from the University of London with a Bachelor in Laws. At the age of 22, he was admitted to the Bar in Sri Lanka and was a practicing attorney for 3 years in several areas of civil litigation. He is currently in the 1-Year LLM Program at USC Gould. In addition to his involvement in the SALSA, he's also the LLM representative of the Student Bar Association, Business Law Society, Entertainment Law Society, National Lawyer's Guild and Phi Alpha Delta. Outside of law school, Sonal enjoys cooking recipes he finds online, discovering underrated songs on Spotify and checking out new restaurants.
Sadaf is from New Jersey and graduated from Rutgers University in 2019 with a degree in Political Science and Economics. In her free time she love to read, play tennis, watch soccer, do the NYT crossword, and watch sappy rom-coms.
Kosha is from the Inland Empire and graduated from UC San Diego with a degree in International Studies - Political Science and a minor in Business. She spent the past year working as a Healthcare Consultant in San Francisco and is so happy to be in Los Angeles for law school. In her free time, you can find Kosha painting, spending time at the beach, exploring a new coffee shop, or indulging in kombucha. She is so excited to be a 1L rep for SALSA this year and is looking forward to a great first year!
Ravina is from Orange County, CA. She graduated from UC Davis in 2019 with a degree in Comparative Literature and minors in Spanish and History. In her free time she loves reading, baking, and listening to musical soundtracks. She is so excited to be a 1L Rep for SALSA and looks forward to a great year!
