The Name of the Wind

By Patrick Rothfuss

I can’t think of a better time than now to sink into the first book of the three-part Kingkiller chronicle. A summer when we’re all stuck close to home could use an epic adventure through the life of Kvothe, a sword fighter, magician, innkeeper, and more. The name of the wind recounts the first day of Kvothe’s three-day oral retelling of his life’s story. This book is great for fans of fantasy as well as those new to the genre. Rothfuss creates a complex world and intriguing characters slowly rather than throwing readers in without a moment to catch their breath. This story explores the question: how does a hero become a hero? As we follow Kvothe through childhood and adolescence, we see how he has been tested and how he has grown.
