Note from APILSA:
This ambiguously titled book documents the history of the Yasui family in Oregon, with a heavy focus on Minoru Yasui's challenge of Executive Order 9066 during WWII. Given that much more attention historically has been given to Fred Korematsu's case, I found it really interesting to read about Min Yasui generally, and especially in the context of his broader community.
A moving story of the promise, perils, and meaning of becoming American. Masuo Yasui emigrated from Japan, settling in Hood River, Oregon, in 1903. This is the story of his family, his children, and their children--a chronicle of struggle, success, and suicide. Photos.*
