Welcome to 6th Grade Honors English!
This summer, you will:
Choose one book from the Summer Reading List.
Annotate (take notes on) the book while you read.
Use the Annotation Sheets to record your thoughts, questions, important events, and interesting details.
Complete at least 5 Annotation Sheets by the time you finish the book.
Create a Book Talk presentation after you finish reading.
In your presentation, you will:
Summarize the book (tell what it is about)
Analyze the book (explain themes, characters, and important ideas)
Recommend the book (share whether others should read it and why)
Summer Reading List: A list of approved books you may choose from.
Book Talk Instructions: Directions for creating your presentation slides.
Presentation Slide Template: A sample format to help organize your Book Talk.
Annotation Handout: Explains how to annotate and complete the Annotation Sheets.
