I earned my B.S. in Child and Adolescent Development and my M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Social Justice Education from CSU Fullerton, along with my teaching credential through LAUSD. As a lifelong learner, I am always excited to explore new ideas. If you have something interesting to share, I would love to learn about it.
This is my sixth year at Portola Middle School. Growing up, I had a love-hate relationship with school. There were times when I loved it and did really well, and other times when I struggled and even failed classes. It might be hard to believe, but I was once a middle schooler just like you. I think back to that time often so I can better understand what you are going through.
I even almost failed math in middle school. It was tough, and I remember how frustrating it felt, but somehow I found my way through it and ended up right back here. My goal is not just for you to get better at math, but for you to hate it a little less each day and build skills that will stay with you long after this class.
At Portola, you will meet so many people who care about you and want to help you succeed. We will take things one step at a time, and we will get through challenges together. You are not alone in this.
