About

History

In the fall of 2006 we were asked if we wanted to build a robot for an upcoming competition being held in two weeks. We said sure! Our team of 5 students did not really know what we were doing, or how all our lives would change that day. At the competition we made it to the Semi Finals and we were hooked. Two weeks later the team competed at the Los Angeles Regionals, and our alliance won. We were now qualified to attend our first Robotics World Championship! That team became VEX Team 20. We have competed every year since, and attended Worlds five times.

During the next fall, it was decided by the team to also compete in the 2008 FIRST Robotics Competition, FRC, in addition to our VEX competitions. This is FRC Team 2584. In 2018 Reseda teamed up with Viewpoint School in order to create a larger more competitive program. We were on the wining alliance at the 2018 LA Regional, This was our first of three times qualifying for the FRC World Robotics Competition. For the 2019 season the combined team re-branded ourselves "Flame of the West." In 2020 Team 2584, Flame of the West, won the Chairman's Award, the highest honor at an FRC event, at the Ventura Regional.

Who we are

Team members join with various levels of Robotics experience. Don't worry if you have no experience, because passion, enthusiasm, and drive are far more important. Below are some pictures of our robots. Enjoy!
