Killer Whale Habitat

Killer whales, also known as orcas,  are found in all oceans. Killer whales perfer colder water. They are more abundat in colder waters like Antartica, Norway, and Alaska.

Type of Animal

The killer whale is an oceans top predator, and mammal. Orcas also have NO predators.

Orcas are found in colder oceans like Antarctica, Norway and Alaska.

Life cycle

The average lifespan for male orcas is 30 years but they can live at least 60 years. For females 50 years and they can live up to 90 years in the wild.

What do orcas look like?

Orcas are black on top and white on bottom. They have hair. All  mammals have hair. They weight 6,600-8,800lbs. The male size is 27 feet. The female size is 23 feet.

Why did we choose this animal?

We chose the orca because we think orcas are really cool.

Food

Orcas eat fish, walruses, seals, sea lions, penguins, squid, sea turtles, sharks and even other kinds of whales.

Intresting Facts

There are only 50,000 orcas left. Another fact is orcas sleep with an eye open. A third reason is, orcas have no predators. My last reason is, adult orcas are almost as big as a bus.

Orcas need the pectoral fins because they help them steer stop and turn.
