Our approach to engaging children isn't to control or manage their behavior, rather to create conditions that help them thrive.
LA's BEST proudly supports the LAUSD guiding principles for the school community.
Community Agreements help to establish group guidelines in support of positive student behavior and successful learning environments.
If young people know what is expected and know how to manage different situations that arise regularly, they can follow those routines.
Most traditional ways of approaching discipline with young people in a group setting are based on a toolbox of bad feelings: fear, pain, and shame.
The conflict resolution process consists of working toward a common goal for all parties involved.
Working with younger children requires a high level of patience and attention. Students at younger ages are at developmental stages that require additional support, guidance and intentionality in our activities and throughout the day.
