In order for Jaguars to be global citizens we seek to embody the attributes of the Learner Profile. In this way you will gain the tools necessary to become a productive global citizen continuing to cultivate the skills and characteristics of an IB student. (Click on picture to the right for link to the El Sereno MS school wide expectations based on the attributes of the Learner Profile. )
Below is the triage in response to not meeting Jaguar expectations or the Learner Profile:
Student receives a warning
Student meets with Mrs. Quepons to discuss expectations
Mrs. Quepons sends a phone message home via Blackboard
Mrs. Quepons personally calls home
A parent conference is arranged to discuss expectations
Meeting with counselor and/or Magnet Coordinator
Work is assigned on a regular basis and is expected to be turned in on time. Any assignment that is not turned in, is considered missing. All missing assignments are issued a zero since there is no evidence of student learning. It is the students’ responsibility to complete assignments that may have been missed because of an absence. Check daily slides linked on Schoology for reference of what was done that day. Please communicate with me if issues arise with turning in assignments and absences.
For students out for illness: Number of days allowed to make up work is equal to the number of days the student was absent (e.g., if a student was absent for 4 days, the make-up work is due in 4 additional days upon returning from the absence). Make up work is eligible for full credit without a grade of penalty for lateness due to absence. Please keep your child home if they are ill, they will have time to make up work!
For the most part assignments will be graded on a five point rubric, with exception of tests and projects. Please see grading scales based on equitable grading practices under the Grading tab.
Teacher will follow policy set by El Sereno Middle school linked here: Academic Integrity Policy
Teacher will be available for assistance during break and lunch. Students are allowed to redo assignments to demonstrate mastery.
