This elective is meant to engage students in engineering challenges that will cultivate their problem solving skills, creativity, coding basics, and guide them through learning to use Google Suite applications. Normally we would be working in class with Vex Robotics to create real world solutions to some of our current environmental problems. This year, we will be utilizing various coding programs such as Scratch, Code Combat and VexVR to practice coding skills to build imaginative designs that would help construct a sustainable future.

Integrated Science is a cross curricular approach that includes Life, Earth, and Physical Science. Students will actively engage in scientific and engineering practices and apply crosscutting concepts to deepen their understanding of the core ideas in these fields.

In this course, students will demonstrate understanding of the following:

1. Organisms and Nonliving Things are Made of Atoms

2. Matter Cycles and Energy Flows Through Organisms and Rocks

3. Physical and Chemical Changes in Organisms

4. Natural Processes and Human Activities Shape Earth's Resources and Ecosystems

5. Sustaining Biodiversity and Ecosystems Service in a Changing World

6. Planning a Large-Scale Investigation

Students will be taught according to the California State Health Standards and 7^th grade Next Generation Science Standards.

Most importantly, your child will be encouraged to make connections between what they are learning, the world around them, and their personal experiences.
