About Me

I was born in Wellington, New Zealand from Scottish and New Zealand parents. I have lived in New Zealand, Scotland, England and The USA.

I am a graduate of Victoria University of Wellington (Bachelor of Arts) and the University of Auckland (Bachelor of Science (1st Class Honors); Master of Speech Language Therapy Practicum).

I've been working as a speech language pathologist since 2006. I started working in Community Home Health with Kidz First which is part of Counties Manukau District Health Board in Auckland, New Zealand. I worked with babies 0-3 years old with feeding and speech and language needs. I worked a rural area driving all over the South Auckland region visiting families in their homes. I also participated in a Feeding and Nutrition Clinic alongside a Dietician, and did videofluroscopy of swallow studies at Middlemore Hospital.

I then moved to a rural Taranaki, where I worked in Taranaki Base Hospital and in the community with Older People, working with patients who had swallowing difficulties, and communication disorders caused by Parkinson's disease, stroke and other disorders.

I met my Husband Gustavo and decided to join him in Los Angeles in 2010. Since then I have been working for the Los Angeles Unified School District. I've worked in High School Settings at East Valley Senior High, Bernstein Senior High and North Hollywood Senior High and Magnets, and in elementary schools including Rosemont Elementary, Ramona Elementary, Lassen Elementary and Clifford Math and Technology Magnet. I also worked at Rosemont Early Education Center.

I like to spend my free time mountain biking, hiking, meditating, watching soccer and gardening. I'm involved in United Teachers of Los Angeles with the Language and Speech Pathologists at LAUSD.
