Library Hours
The library is open from 7:40 am to 3:35 pm for student initiated visits and class visits
Student Initiated Visits:
7:40 to 8:00 am
1st Break
1st and 2nd Lunch
**The library will occasionally be closed to accommodate 3rd and 5th period classes and lessons**
After school book club, tutoring
Circulation Policy
Students can check out up to 3 books at a time, with the exception of manga. Students can check out 1 manga from a series at a time.
Students can keep library books for 3 weeks and renew their books twice.
Students are responsible to reimburse the school for any lost or badly damaged books.
Library Code of Conduct
The library is a safe, welcoming space for all. Any words or behavior that are hurtful, disrespectful, or unsafe will not be tolerated.
Cell phone use is not allowed in the library.
Students are expected to clean up after themselves and to respect the physical space, including books and furniture.
Use of Library Space
Priority will be given to use of the library as an instructional/maker space
Class visits will be scheduled collaboratively and usually require one week to 10 days prior notice
For use of the library for after school activities and events:
Please give the librarian at least two days notice
Be respectful of the library equipment and facilities
Instructional/Library related events requested by stakeholders to be held in the library during the school day require one week to 10 days prior notice to schedule.

The mission of the El Sereno Middle School library is to promote literacy equity by maintaining a diverse and current collection of resources that reflect and celebrate students' personal interests as well as the pedagogical and curricular needs of the school. We are a safe and welcoming library community that supports collaboration and inquiry among students, teachers, and all stakeholders.
