Mr. Delgado was born in Los Angeles, California. He has been teaching at Norwood Street Elementary School since 2017. Delgado is an alumnus of Norwood. In 1994, Mr. I. Delgado started UTK (Universal Transitional Kindergarten), culminating in 2001. He has taught First/Second, Fifth, and sixth grade. Mr. Delgado has also served as the secretary of the School Site Council and on the safety committee. He participated in the Sky Hook Clear Creek camping experience with the class of 2023. Before becoming a teacher, he worked as a tutor for elementary and middle school students in the San Gabriel Valley for a company called Club-Z from 2012 to 2015. In 2013, he worked as a test proctor for the test center at Cal Poly Pomona. He became a substitute teacher in the Los Angeles Unified in 2016.
Delgado received a Bachelor of Arts from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, in 2012. He holds a clear multiple-subject teaching credential with an added bilingual authorization in Spanish from California. During the pandemic in 2020, Mr. Delgado became an LAUSD Future Ready Certified Teacher. Mr. Delgado is officially a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood. He actively develops his professional skills by attending LAUSD trainings and is currently acquiring and a Master of Arts in Education: General Curriculum & Instruction.
Mr. Delgado's work at Norwood Street Elementary has been recognized on several occasions. His fifth-grade team received two recognitions from Local District Central for increasing student state testing scores in both ELA and math in 2018-2019. Former Superintendent Austin Beautner recognized Mr. Delgado for his five years of service in LAUSD in June 2021. LAUSD's former Interim Superintendent, Megan K. Reilly, featured Mr. Delgado's fifth-grade classroom in her newsletter in November 2021. In October 2023, Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho invited Mr. Delgado and his sixth-grade homeroom students to the Launch of Ed conference in March 2024. Mr. Delgado became an LAUSD Champion in 2024.
Mr. Delgado enjoys working with parents, teaching new students, and serving his community annually.
