On Saturday, October 19th, over 100 students, caretakers, and community members came together to celebrate our love of reading and art. We enjoyed hearing two amazing keynote authors speak: Miranda Harmon of Mayor Good Boy fame and Katy Farina, author and illustrator of the amazing Little Sisters Babysitters Club. In addition to the keynote speakers, we had amazing family workshops hosted by not only the authors, but our partners at Eagle Rock Center of the Arts, Los Angeles Public Library, as well as teachers and parents. Food was made available though donations from Kitchen Mouse, Joy on York, Cafe de Leche, and Homestate Tacos. Thank you to our amazing PTA, teachers, and parents who worked to make this such an incredible event!

Students are invited to our first annual Arroyo Seco Poetry Slam on Friday, April 28th during recess in the library. During this event, students may read an original work of poetry or their favorite poem by another poet. There is no need to memorize the poem, but students should be ready to stand in front of an audience and recite the poem of their choosing. Participation in this event is voluntary, but all participating poets will be entered into a raffle with a chance to win some awesome prizes!
