The organization that I was paired with for my action project was CCOAL, or Collective Citizens Organized Against Lead. Led by Robin Brown, a Cleveland parent of a child with lead poisoning, CCOAL aims to raise awareness for the lead crisis in Cleveland that predominantly impacts low-income Black families whose neigborhoods have been historically redlined. Alongside three of my peers, we helped support CCOAL and spread their message by elevating their presence on social media and establishing an online identity for them. We assisted them in their process of creating a logo and building a website and Instagram page. We hope our efforts give CCOAL the opportunity to continue to help their community and reduce the influence of lead poisoning in Cleveland.
