At Leigh UTC (Y7-9), all young people will dress smartly and develop the shared identity of the Leigh UTC.
Blazer - black with Leigh UTC badge.*
Trousers - black tailored (no skinny fit or jean style)
Shirt - plain white with optional short sleeve
College Tie*
Jumper (optional) - black, v-necked with green trim*
Black socks
Shoes - Black, leather-fronted, traditional style school shoes. A plain design with no trimmings, logos, decorative buckles, coloured laces or stitching. No trainers, fabric shoes, boots or shoe-trainer hybrid shoes. No shoes with open toes or heels.
Please note that items marked with a * should be purchased from our uniform supplier: Brigade Clothing - Please be aware tie colours are based on colleges so please wait until you know your child's college before purchasing.
NO NON-SCHOOL UNIFORM GARMENTS to be worn under blazers
NO COATS TO BE WORN IN THE ACADEMY BUILDINGS
NO SCARVES of any kind to be worn on the Academy premises
NO HATS / HEADWEAR (religious headwear excluded) may be worn on the Academy premises
NO TRAINERS are allowed to be worn in school except during PE
NO MAKEUP may be worn
NO NAIL VARNISH (except clear)
NO ACRYLIC/GEL NAILS
NO DENIM is acceptable in school
Hairstyles - Hairstyles that look professional while also supporting effective and safe participation in all UTC activities. Hair should not be dyed.
Jewellery - NO JEWELLERY can be worn apart from one pair of in-ear stud earrings and a wristwatch. The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy takes no responsibility for lost/stolen/damaged jewellery.
Non-uniform items - Non-uniform items including jewellery will be confiscated, and these can be collected from the Academy office at the end of the day. Students bring such items entirely at their own risk and the Academy accepts no responsibility should it be damaged, lost or stolen. We ask that parents/carers write a note in the student's planner to communicate to staff why the student is unable to wear the correct uniform on any given day.

Skirt - stitched down black box pleat, should be no shorter than two inches above the knee.

Coming to school prepared is vital to students being able to access their learning quickly and effectively. We do not want students losing learning time having to find equipment. To ensure that lessons can start promptly and flow for the full hour students are expected to have the following items every day:
at least 2 black pens
at least 2 blue pens
at least 2 pencils
a ruler
a rubber
a pencil sharpener
at least one dry wipe marker
a selection of highlighters
colouring pencils
a glue stick
a scientific calculator
a protractor
a set square
an appropriate reading book
a charged Chromebook device (provided to all Year 7 students upon arrival in September)
