24th March 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
I write to you all on what feels like the dawn of Spring. As many of you know, new beginnings is a theme at Oaks, the recent hatching of our four ducklings has brought us all great joy. We can't wait to keep documenting their young lives with you all through our social media platforms. We are also exceedingly grateful to Mr and Mrs Brown (parents within our community) who have continued to work around the clock to craft a fabulous house for the ducks. We are very lucky to have had such brilliant support and can't wait to share social media updates of the house in action!
Heading into the final week of term, we have been running basketball and football workshops, organised willow weaving for next week and enjoyed collaborating with our international school, Starfish Malawi, through singing and dancing. All of this has happened on top of amazing work as usual.
I would like to remind you all that our Parent Consultations run across next week with bookins closing today. Please log into the My Child at School app to ensure you gain a place to meet your child's Teacher, this will help you to stay up to date with how your child is progressing in every aspect of their school life. The Year 5 consultations will run following the half term break when Mrs Baldwin returns.
I look forward to seeing many of you next Friday at our Spring festival held at St Martin's Church between 10-11am. What a fantastic way to see out our final day of this term!
Yours sincerely and have a lovely weekend,
Mr Moore
Principal
Over the past 2 weeks, I have witnessed two of our pupils nearly being hit by parent drivers and as a direct result of some parking.
We do everything we can for pupils regarding road safety: PSHE lessons, Kent County Council workshops with our pupils about road safety and safe crossings, new banners on our railings, leaflets on parents' cars who park illegally, contacting the parking team at Maidstone to patrol the road at busy times etc and it is so disappointing to still see the choices that some people make in the mornings and afternoons.
We see people parking across or directly beside our pedestrian crossing dropped kerb, making the crossing unsafe for our community, parents doing three point turns in the middle of this busy junction, causing a traffic jam at this already dangerous bend and reversing into oncoming traffic from parking spaces.
It is only a matter of time before one of our school children or parents is seriously injured if people continue to park and drive in this manner.
Please be considerate of our school community and DO NOT park across our pedestrian crossing and on double yellow lines. Any dangerous driving putting our school children at risk is now being reported to Maidstone Borough Council Civil Enforcement Parking Team as well as Kent Police.

Vice Principal
