Whatsapp Groups and other online communication between pupils

It has come to our attention that in the evenings or at the weekends, pupils are communicating using Whatsapp and other messaging services, using inappropriate language between each other and being unkind to each other. Often, there is then a fall-out from this and time has to be taken from staff and pupils' learning to speak with pupils about their online behaviour and appropriate communication.

While we will always address any online safety issues through assemblies, class discussions, PSHE lessons etc, when children are at home with phones and other devices, families must be vigilant as to what children are doing, saying and watching.

Our school behaviour policy is very clear in terms of respecting others, and our Acceptable Use Policy in terms of pupils' use of technology and expectations in school.
