This week we revisited our incredible virtual meeting with RAL Space and learnt about the importance of sustainability in space in honour of World Space Week.
In the summer term, Kingfisher class had the privilege to be set a challenge to create a device that could be used in space. Some pupils chose to create items to help astronauts complete jobs and other groups designed machines that would help clear up space debris. Pupils were overjoyed when engineers and scientists at RAL Space were kind enough to provide feedback and advice on their work. Check out their recent Tweet where the said how impressed they were with our engineers of the future!
At Oaks Primary Academy, we are very lucky to have Charlton Athletic deliver their 'Chance to Shine' programme with pupils. Photos taken by Zach - Year 3
Year 6 have been busy using software called Tinkercad, which is an online 3D modelling program, to design their own game using electrical circuits. Tinkercad enables pupils to have a 3D visual prototype before then building their actual game using materials and electrical components to make a working circuit. We have seen very creative ideas being presented and are looking forward to seeing and playing their finished games!
On a chilly Tuesday afternoon, we had a wonderful surprise when some pupils from Sparrow class (Year 1) arrived at our office doors with warm soup!
The soup was absolutely delicious and full of healthy ingredients. Sparrow class will be writing out the recipe to share with all of us. It's a must-make for these chilly days!
Year 2 have been creating models of buses using K'Nex, all linked to their learning about Rosa Parks and Black History Month.
