Oaks Primary Academy Newsletter

Issue 2: 4/10/2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to you following a fantastic autumnal week here at Oaks. We have celebrated Space Week, going on adventures into the vast unknown with Mrs Baldwin (sporting her customary solar system shirt).

Year 1 have cooked up nutritious soup which tasted absolutely amazing by combining a range of nutritious and vibrant vegetables. Butternut squash was definitely a hit with the class! Keep an eye out for their recipe coming soon for you all to make at home and we will continue to upload recipe ideas from cooking we do in school.

To finish of a fabulous week, we all headed to Mangravet Park to take part in the Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity race for kids. We all completed 1Kilometre at our own pace to raise money for a brilliant cause and will continue to put Charities, Community and Careers education at the heart of everything we do.

I always wish to end my newsletters on a positive, however this week I have to mention lateness and absence again. We have had a great deal of absence due to holidays in term time which can't be permitted. We are governed by Kent County Council to report unauthorised holidays and it is at their discretion to fine and/or proceed to court (of which they are doing far more readily).

Please ensure you prioritise having children in school by 8:40. Daily there is a steady stream of parents heading to the office to sign children in following 8:50. It is imperative that children are in school to register before 8:50 in order to start learning and not miss essential content. I will be meeting with individuals over the coming weeks should this not improve. I hope that my future newsletters can be more celebratory and focus on the positives.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend,

Mr Moore

Principal

Hello,

For those of you that have just started with us my name is Mrs Osborne and I am the Community Liaison Officer (CLO), here at Oaks Primary Academy. My role is to provide support to parents/carers with any issues or concerns you may have, either at home or in school.

I can be the support link to help ensure your children are happy and enjoy school life. I am able to give advice in a supportive manner.

Many Parents and Carers, regardless of background, feel that there are times in their lives when they need advice and support. I know that sometimes all that is needed is someone to talk to. Parents are best placed to make choices for their children but all parents benefit from access to high quality information and advice to help them make the best possible decisions.

I am available for informal chats on the playground and appointments so please feel free to come up and say hello.

Finally, as a mum myself, I never forget how precious your children are and it is my aim to build strong relationships with you so every child is happy, thriving and fulfilling their potential. I know that sometimes all that is needed is a willing ear and I am here just to listen if you need someone to talk to.

If I can help you in any way, you can see me at school drop-off every morning or in the playground at the end of the day.

Best wishes

Mrs Osborne
