It has been another superb year for sixth formers at the Sir Joseph Williamson's Mathematical School. The Year 13 students who collected their results enjoyed enormous success.
14.8% of all grades awarded were at A*, up from 2019 (the last comparable year).
41.7% of all grades awarded were at A* and A level, up from 40% in 2019, while 67% of all grades secured by these senior students were at A*-B level.
The average points per subject, a measure of the typical grade per A level, is 40.7, also up from 2019 and equates to a B grade.
23 students gained 2 or more A* grades. Remarkably, 62 students (30% of the year group) avoided any grade lower than an A, while 106 students (over 50% of the year group) avoided any grade lower than a B.
A key benchmark is the proportion of students gaining at least AAB in two facilitating subjects, which this year is 25% of Year 13, up from 2019.
The Russell Group and Oxbridge University hopefuls from the school had particular cause for celebration.
The top performing students are:
Matthew (4A*, medicine, Cambridge);
Jack (3A*, 1A, financial mathematics, Leeds);
Demi (2A*, 2A medicine, King's College);
Jian (2A*, 2A, mathematics, Durham);
Sarah (1A*, 3A, natural sciences, Durham);
Vivaan (1A*, 3A, economics, UCL);
Benjamin (3A, 1B, aerospace engineering);
Jake (3A, 1B, chemistry, Durham);
Mikelle (1A*, 3A, law, Royal Holloway);
Dominic (3A*, physiotherapy, Birmingham);
Jessica (3A*, accounting and finance, Warwick);
George (3A*, mechanical engineering, Manchester);
James (3A*, medicine, Cambridge);
Aarian (3A*, PPE, Warwick);

Principal Eliot Hodges said “I am delighted for all our students. They, together with their teachers, have worked really hard and it has paid off. They are a great group of young people who will now move on with confidence to the next stage in their lives”.
Chair of Governors Tony Saroy said ‘Once again the students of the Math have produced a set of results unequalled in recent years, despite the challenges they faced’’.
