This term all year groups have started their dance curriculum and we are covering a variety of genres. KS2 had the opportunity to learn about the tradition of the Haka which is performed by the All Blacks (New Zealand) at the beginning of each rugby match they play and this tied in with the completion of the Rugby World Cup. Pupils have started creating dance to the Nutcracker (Ballet), learning about Diwai and also producing firework dances. It is going to be an exciting term of Dance!
Please can I ask that all children are wearing their black PE shorts and logo t-shirt for their PE lessons as all lessons are inside this term. Pupils should also be wearing their black logo sweatshirt and plain black joggers. They all look so smart and are a credit to Oaks Primay Academy.
If there is any issue with your child's uniform, please come and speak to a member of staff available in the morning, or alternatively, email the office.
If your child is in KS2 (Yr 3,4,5,6) and wears trainers with laces, please could you teach them how to tie them. As you can imagine, myself and the LSA in each lesson does not have time to tie laces and it is part of their personal development.
Please can I also remind you that earrings are not to be worn on PE day (if your child is unable to take them out) and please only have your child's ears pierced at the end of the school year in July. We have a no earring policy for PE and PE is a very important part of the National Curriculum and it is important they are able to participate.
