Oaks Primary Academy Newsletter

11th November 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to you at the end of a really productive week. The children have learnt a great deal about their new Central Ideas this week. They will desperately want to talk about their learning with you all. Useful questions to ask are "Tell me about your Central Idea?" or "What are you inquiring into in class?"

Whilst each class focuses on the National Curriculum, we are - as you know - an International Baccalaureate Primary School and therefore learn through cross curricular inquiry lessons as much as possible. Should you ever want to learn more about our IB curriculum then please do not hesitate to book in a meeting with myself or Mrs Mehigan.

All of the school have also turned their attention to Remembrance and observed The Last Post on Friday respectfully, reflecting on what the piece of music means to us and why we pause to remember. Many children were keen to share their knowledge of Remembrance Day and how they will observe the silence on Saturday 11th November.

The weather has certainly taken a turn for the worse, so it is important that all children are sent into school with a waterproof coat (as well as a hat and scarf if the weather continues to turn colder).

On Monday 13th November at 2:45, I will be running a parent engagement session in the Acorn Centre for any parents who wish to support us with the planning and organising of the Christmas Fair. In the absence of a PTA, we will continue to run events with the support of volunteering parents. We thank you to those who have voiced their desire to run such events.

Please be reminded that parent consultations are running next week. This is an invaluable opportunity to meet with your child's Teacher and find out about their progress in class. If you have not yet booked in a session then please log on to My Child at School to do so.

A letter is coming out this evening with dates and times for Nursery Parent-Teacher conferences and Karen looks forward to meeting you at these events.

Best wishes and have a fantastic weekend,

Mr Moore
