Scanning Electron Microscope & Raman Lab

The SEM/Raman lab is supported by the National Science Foundation (EAR 2050246) as part of the Arizona LaserChron Center.

Facility equipment:

The Arizona Laserchron Center (Department of Geosciences, University of Arizona) hosts a microanalysis lab equipped with an Hitachi S-3400N variable-pressure scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a Renishaw Raman Spectroscopic system. The S-3400N SEM utilizes a Tungsten filament electron source and provides an analytical spot-size of approximately 1um in diameter.

Users who complete training are permitted to operate the SEM independently with scheduling approval, including "after hours." Pricing discounts are applied for after-hours (evening and weekend) independent usage. Contact the lab manager for details and general scheduling.
