The Geosciences SEM lab offers a number of imaging and analysis services for University of Arizona and external clients:
Secondary electron imaging (SE)
Backscatter electron imaging (BSE)
Cathodoluminescence imaging (CL)
Energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS)
Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD)
NSF-funded rates:
Zircon BSE/SE $30/sample
Zircon CL $130/sample
Hourly rate (EDS/EBSD/all non-zircon work): $45/hour
Non-NSF rates (non-profit):
Zircon BSE/SE $40/sample
Zircon CL $200/sample
Hourly rate (EDS/EBSD/all non-zircon work): $60/hour
Non-NSF rates (industry):
Zircon BSE/SE $60/sample
Zircon CL $300/sample
Hourly rate (EDS/EBSD/all non-zircon work): $90/hour
NOTE: Prices listed above are for assisted usage of the facilities during normal business hours -- unassisted users working off-hours will receive a 50% discount. Unassisted usage is permitted after users are trained for independent work. Pricing for training depends on the extent and number of trainees. Please contact the lab manager for more details and scheduling.

Scheduling and hours of operation
The SEM lab can be scheduled 24-hours a day 7-days a week for trained users and during standard hours for users requiring assistance.
To schedule a visit, training, or imaging session, please submit an ALC Session Request and contact Tristan Nolan (tristanqnolan@arizona.edu).
