Illuminate LASD is looking for Illuminate Coaches to support students as they share their learning journeys and receive meaningful feedback. This is a powerful opportunity to listen, encourage, and help students grow—without grading or evaluating. As an Illuminate Coach, you role is to guide students through asking thoughtful questions, to listen engaging students in conversation, and to encourage offering supportive, constructive feedback. Your feedback helps students articulate their thinking and recognize their growth.
TIMELINE & COMMITMENT
Community Coaches will participate during one or both feedback windows. Each school site will determine one day within the feedback window, where Community Coaches will be invited on site at your respective school sites to engage in conversations with the students.
Feedback Window 1: February 2 – 13 & Feedback Window 2: March 2 – 13
During the school day, you will be provided with a short training, resources for you to help guide your feedback sessions. (The Illuminate Parent Liaison for your site will share specific times, locations, and logistics in advance.)
WHAT WILL I DO DURING A FEEDBACK SESSION
During your schedule time, you’ll:
Talk with students about any part of their project.
Ask questions about their thinking and problem solving
Provide specific, supportive, and thought-provoking feedback.
The goal is to help students reflect on how they learned, not just he final product.
If you are interested in participating as an Illuminate Coach, please reach out to Grace Choi (gchoi@lasdschools.org)!
