Policies:
Classwork and homework should be completed on time and it should be organized and accurate. If students have a question, they should initiate the discussion or email to practice advocating for themselves.
Absences- When students are absent, they are responsible for checking the absent file folder, Google Classroom, and ask a fellow classmate. They should ask about the class objective, discussion/activity and notes from that day. Students will have one week to make up missing assignments.
Late work- Students are expected to complete ALL assignments. Late work is accepted. However, it is up to students to communicate with me so I can work with them. A great time for this is during tutorial or after school.
Retakes- There are NO RETAKES of History tests and quizzes.
PowerSchool and Google Classroom
Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom. Assignments assessing specific skills and standards will be posted in PowerSchool. Feedback on essays will be shared on Google Classroom in the comment section, usually through Mote, which allows voice notes and feedback.
Mastery Scale for Academic Standards
Scored assignments will be posted on Power School.
4= Mastery: The student demonstrates mastery of the standard: he or she is able to independently and accurately apply the knowledge or the skills assessed to evaluate or create original work, with no gaps in understanding and minimal errors in application. I can do it on my own, I totally understand.
3= Approaching: The student is able to recall or reproduce the knowledge or skills assessed, and is also able to create original work. The student may have some non-critical gaps in understanding or errors in application, and may require limited teacher assistance. I can do it with a little help, I mostly understand.
2= Developing: The student is able to recall or reproduce the knowledge or skills assessed and apply them at a basic level. The student may demonstrate some gaps in understanding, may have significant errors in application, or is not fully capable of completing a task without teacher assistance. I can do it with help; I kind of understand.
1= Beginning: The student is able to recall or reproduce some of the knowledge or skills, but is not able to independently or accurately apply them. The student demonstrates significant gaps in his or her understanding, has major errors in application, and may require continuous teacher guidance in order to complete a task.
