Grading Policy: We use Standards Based Grading at Blach. All grades will be posted in Powerschool.
Quizzes: There will be one or two before each unit test. If a student is absent on the day of an assessment, he/she must be responsible for arranging to make it up as soon as possible.
Unit Tests: There will be one given at the end of each major unit. It is likely that each unit test will be sent home to get a parent signature and date. If a student is absent on the day of an exam, s/he is responsible for arranging to take the exam in Noon Study or before or after school, as soon as possible. Exam re-takes of unit tests are usually allowed up to about 10 days after the initial exam but a request for a re-take will generally need to be accompanied by a body of work indicating that the material has been better comprehended.
Assignments- Homework will be assigned each class period and is due at the beginning of the next class meeting. All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. It is also the expectation of students to check their answers and correct any mistakes as part of their assignment, preferably in a different colored pen. Late assignments are accepted up until the day of the unit test.
Notebooks and Binders and Calculators
Students are required to have a spiral bound single subject notebook, preferably a Mead Five Star notebook with graphing paper to take notes and do their homework.
In addition, students should have a binder with two sections. One section for quizzes and the other section for handouts in class.
Students should have their own scientific calculator to bring to class each day. An example of a scientific calculator is a Texas Instrument TI-30.
Absences: It is each student’s responsibility to make up any missed work upon returning from an absence. Exams can generally be made up at Noon Study.
Student Conduct:
Come prepared with a notebook, an organized binder, pencils, and a scientific calculator every day.
Work diligently on math homework during the time provided in class.
Be courteous to the teacher and to the other students.
Refrain from using profane language.
Be attentive at all times while in class.
Be an active, contributing member of the class.
Leave all food and drink items outside the class.
Respect school property and the property of others.
