Grading Policy: We use Standards Based Grading at Blach. All grades will be posted in Powerschool.
Quizzes: There will be one or two before each unit test. If a student is absent on the day of an assessment, he/she must be responsible for arranging to make it up as soon as possible.
Unit Test: There will be one given at the end of each major unit. It is likely that each unit test will be sent home to get a parent signature and date. If a student is absent on the day of an exam, s/he is responsible for arranging to take the exam in Noon Study or before or after school, as soon as possible. There are no re-takes on unit tests.
Assignments- Homework will be assigned each class period and is due at the beginning of the next class meeting. All assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. It is also the expectation of students to check their answers and correct any mistakes as part of their assignment, preferably in a different colored pen. Late assignments are accepted up until the day of the unit test.
Exit tickets: Used periodically to assess skills.
Students must pass 5 of the 7 standards to pass the Algebra course.
Absences: It is each student’s responsibility to make up any missed work upon returning from an absence. Exams can generally be made up at Noon Study.
Supplies: Students are expected to have the following supplies: a spiral bound graph paper notebook, a binder to store all loose pieces of paper from class, a scientific (not a graphing) calculator, pencils, a correcting pen, and a ruler.
Student Conduct:
While in the virtual environment, students are expected to sign into class each day and be prepared for the lesson of the day.
Be prepared with a notebook, pencils, and a scientific calculator every day.
