About Me

Hello! My name is Aimee Lessin (formally known by my married name Iman Al-Omari). You can call me Miss Lessin (pronounced La-seen, Germanic origin meaning a forester or forest dweller). I grew up in the redwood forests of Larkspur, California, with my four older brothers. I am now an empty-nester that lives n Felton, in the redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains with my chickens, cat, and dog. In my downtime, you can find me outdoors enjoying nature via kayaking, yoga, mountain biking, gardening, hiking, and even at karaoke at the local tavern. I love rock, metal and grunge music!

I completed my Bachelor's degree in sociology and child psychology at UC Santa Cruz. During my undergraduate studies at UCSC, I studied abroad in Jordan, where I picked up the Arabic language and raised my three sons during their formative years. In 2021, I completed a Master's degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction and California Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. With over fifteen years of experience teaching English to culturally and linguistically diverse students, I have a wealth of experience with multicultural and multilingual educational environments. I have nearly finished an Administrative Services Credential through the Santa Clara County Office of Education to help increase my efficacy to advocate and support our multilingual and English Language Learners.
