The Sky Hawk team is planning a community outreach/service project. We will be asking the 7th graders to record themselves reading a favorite picture book (pre-K/Kinder level) out loud. The students will include an introduction about themself and their reason for sharing the book. Then the students will be recording the book, through a document camera, while reading aloud. We will save these files on a LAPS Google Drive folder and share it with all of the elementary schools.
Our goal is to create a self-sustaining center for the Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms. We plan to have an occasional Google Meet with 7th graders reading aloud, live, to an elementary class. Our hope is to foster a love of reading, especially given the state’s focus on literacy this year, and provide opportunities for the 7th graders to mentor the younger students.
