Assignment POLICY

Homework Process - Don't just do it, LEARN IT!

  • There will be enough time in class to finish assignments in class so the majority of students should have no to little homework

  • All assignments are due the following class period

  • All assigned questions are expected to be complete and correct to receive credit

  • Section assignments are an all or nothing grade, either a zero or full credit

  • Students must write down the question and show all necessary steps to receive full credit

Grading

This is a point value class. All classwork assignments are worth 2 points each. Quizzes are worth 10 points. Tests range in value but can be 20-30 points each.

Extra Credit will be offered periodically and it is the responsibility of the student to take advantage of the opportunity when it is available.

Semester Grades are weighted 45% Q1, 45% Q2, and 10% Semester Exam.

Assignments, Late work, and Test Corrections:

  • I accept late work for full credit at any point during the current chapter. Once we have finished with a chapter (chapter Test has occurred) I will no longer accept homework from that unit.

  • Students are not allowed to make quiz corrections.

  • There will be an extra credit review at the end of each chapter

  • Students may do test corrections to recover points (½ credit) IF they have completed the extra credit review. Test corrections are always due within one week of return. Students must turn in the original test with the corrections and the corrections must be done on a separate sheet of paper.

  • If a student does not do the extra credit assignment they will not be allowed to do test corrections and will keep the grade they earned.

  • All students can use a 3"x5" index card for notes on a test.

  • All students are encouraged to come see me during Academic Time (2:40-3:10) if they need help or they can also go to Saturday School. Parents can sign students up for Saturday school by sending an email to lahssaturdayschool@laschools.net

  • There is also FREE tutoring available in the Academic Support Center (ASC). I collaborate closely with the ASC and I encourage all students to work with any of the tutors there. They are open during classes, during lunch, and during AT.
