Advanced Placement US Government and Politics is a year long course that culminates in an Advanced Placement exam. It is the college course equivalent of a one-semester introductory college course in U.S. government. Students will explore the foundations of American democracy, the US Constitution, the branches of government, civil liberties and civil rights, American political ideologies and beliefs, and political participation.
Students need to take both semesters of AP Government to fulfill the government portion of the New Mexico graduation requirements.
