Greetings Parents and Families!

We are so excited to work in partnership with you and your learner this year as a member of the Atomic Hawk team. It is our mission to provide support and encouragement to each student to grow into independent and soaring hawks!! As such, we would like to share some advice/encouragements to you. These include:

• Promoting with your child, the importance of taking ownership in the classroom each day by using the tools we provide them, asking questions, engaging in the learning activities to the best of their ability!

• Allowing your child to experience the process of "productive struggle" from time to time...remind them that growth happens most when they're willing to face challenges and take academic risks!

• Managing with your child their health and stress levels daily by:

1. Eating a well-rounded meal at breakfast and lunch. Bringing a variety of healthy snacks and water to fuel them throughout the day! PLEASE AVOID CHIPS, SODA and CANDY at all costs!

2. Striving for 9-10 hours of sleep each night.

3. Limiting their social media and screen time.

*** If you begin to notice that your child seems to have more than an hour of homework each night on a daily basis- please take some time to have a conversation to them about how effectively they are using their class time. As a team, our homework commitment includes:

• About 15-20 minutes for MathXL every other day

• About 15 minutes of ReadingPlus each day

• Make-up/completion work as needed (particularly for absences)

Thank you for ALL that you are doing at home to support your child's success. If anything, these last couple of year's have taught us all about the importance of RESILIENCE. This is the year where we can THRIVE together by working together!!
