"Talent Academy" - Community Service Programme

In 2021-2022, the IMC of La Salle College decided to start a new “Service-Learning” subject in the curriculum, based on the advices from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and combining the Positive Psychology, “Values-In-Action VIA”, advocated by Professor Martin Seligman. This subject was implemented as one of the compulsory subjects for F.4 students in 2021-2022.

As "Zeal for service" was one of the 90th Anniversary themes, our College liaised with six primary schools in HK to implement our community outreach service programmes. Originally, it was planned to have more than 40 F.4 students to design and plan aviation-related workshops, music workshops and kids athletics for the targeted primary school pupils.

Due to the pandemic, our programmes were forced to switch to online mode. Nevertheless, our students managed to conduct three face-to-face sessions with primary school pupils. These service programmes lasted for 2 months during May - July of 2022.

The total number of primary school students involved was over 120, and the feedback from teachers and students of the primary schools are encouraging.
