DUE DATE – One week into Grade 7:

Choose one of the creative projects below for any book you decide to read this summer:
(Assignment must include: * Your first and last name *Book Title *Author’s name *Option number)
Option 1) NARRATIVE: Choose this task if you love to write creatively, if you had ideas about how you’d change the book you read, or if you’re inspired by your story’s setting, characters, and conflicts.
TASK: Choose a prompt below and write a narrative based off of your book:
Add an additional chapter to flesh out a character’s decision or actions.
Revise the ending of the book to change how the story ends.
Write chapter 1 of the sequel to continue where the original book left of.
Write a diary entry from the main character’s perspective to deeply explore the character’s inner thoughts.
Write from a different character’s perspective during a particular event or moment in the story.
Option 2) POETRY: Choose this task if you love to write creatively and/or are inspired by your story’s setting, characters, and conflicts.
TASK: Write two poems in response to the novel. The poems can be about events that happened, reactions to moments, or motifs/themes from the book. Poems may also be written from different character perspectives (please specify). Poems should be thoughtful and descriptive in length, as well as written in line breaks (so it looks like a poem) and with multiple stanzas. You do not have to rhyme (although you can if you'd like to). Try to use figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole, imagery, symbols, etc.).
*Include the focus of your work or the perspective in the title of your poem.
Option 3) SCRAPBOOK PAGE/POSTER: Choose this option if you like creating visual art (such as drawing, painting, collaging...).
TASK: Portray “your” life from the perspective of one of the characters in the book. Highlight scenes from the book that really affected “you" (the character), using pictures, drawings, magazines, or items to decorate.
*Include written captions throughout the page.
Option 4) MOVIE SOUNDTRACK: Choose this option if you love music.
TASK: Choose at least one song for a scene from the beginning of the book, at least one song for a scene from the middle of the book, and at least one song for the ending of the book. Then, write a one-paragraph description/summary for each song, which explains WHY the song fits with that part of the book.
*Include the title and artist of each song
Remember: You are only choosing ONE of the four projects!
