Psychological Testing

Psychologists use tests and other assessment tools to measure and observe a patient’s behavior to arrive at a diagnosis and guide treatment. Psychologists administer tests and assessments for a wide variety of reasons. Here at LA Psychology Guides we can assess for Adult ADHD and Personality domains to help guide treatment, solidify complex diagnoses, and offer referrals. No test alone can provide a diagnosis; therefore, all testing requires clinical interview, history taking, and analysis. Testing takes place in El Segundo, CA at the Mind Set Collective.

Adult ADHD Testing

We will complete a clinical interview, administer the Testing of Variable Attention -9 (FDA approved medical device), Brown Executive Functioning and Attention Scales, and the MCMI-IV testing to identify an ADHD diagnosis, uncover any co-occurring diagnoses and provide an 8–10-page report.

The T.O.V.A. 9 is a medical device that aids in the assessment of, and evaluation of treatment for, attention deficits, including ADHD. The T.O.V.A. 9 is used by healthcare professionals to measure key variables of attention and inhibitory control that are the building blocks for our ability to focus, think effectively, and develop healthy relationships. The TOVA-9 must be completed in person.

The Brown Executive Function/Attention Scales helps screen and assess a wider range of impairments of executive functioning. Brown EF/A Scales™ measures DSM-5 symptoms of ADHD along with less apparent impairments of executive functioning.

We will complete a follow up feedback session covering what is in the report and answer any questions you may have. This report includes charts, insights into your personality, suggestions for further testing if necessary, and personalized treatment recommendations. It serves as a valuable resource for psychiatrists and therapists involved in your care.

MCMI IV Testing

The Millon® Clinical Multiaxial Inventory-IV (MCMI®-IV) (2015)

The primary intent of the MCMI inventory is to provide information to clinicians, that is, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, social workers, physicians, and nurses, who must make assessments and treatment decisions about persons with emotional and interpersonal difficulties. This assessment can help explore underlying personality structure and pinpoint a varierty of diagnoses. The assessment includes a full clinical interview, the MCMI IV test itself, and evaluation and interpretation by a Psychologist, as well as a written report.

Over 600 research studies have used the MCMI inventory in a significant manner. Objective, quantified, and theory-grounded individual scale scores and profile patterns can be used to generate and test a variety of clinical, experimental, and demographic hypotheses.
