My journey in wrestling began early, wrestling competitively all the way from elementary school through high school. I went to Sachem North High School. There, I wasn't just on the team – I was a varsity starter for 5 years, starting in 8th grade! In high school, I also took a lot of different technology classes. That competitive spirit plus my enjoyment for hands on work led me to SUNY Oswego, where I further developed my skills and knowledge. I studied Technology Education, and I took some coaching classes. After graduating, I returned to the wrestling mat, this time as a coach at the Varsity level, sharing my experience and enthusiasm for the sport with the next generation of athletes. I also got my own technology classroom where I was able to make it my own to help students learn about the changing world around them.
As a coach and educator I hold many things important. The most important is that my wrestlers are STUDENT athletes. They are students first and their academics must always come first. I push my athletes to a high standard on and off the wrestling mat. Wrestling is as much a team sport as it is an individual sport. It is a sport unlike any other offered in high school!
My classroom is 113 in KMS if you need to talk to me.
Meet Coach Adam Gregoire, the head coach of Junior Knights Wrestling Club. Along with Coach Rob White, Coach Gregoire brings a wealth of experience and passion to the mat. By day, he serves as a dedicated educator, enlightening young minds as a 5th Grade Math and Science teacher at Rensselaer Park Elementary School. However, it's on the wrestling mat where Coach Gregoire's true calling shines.
Coach Gregoire's journey in wrestling began in 8th grade, where he quickly recognized the transformative power of the sport—building character, resilience, and the ability to learn from setbacks. Throughout his high school years at Lansingburgh, he showcased his prowess as a wrestler, eventually earning the prestigious role of team captain in his junior and senior years.
Transitioning seamlessly into coaching during his college years, Coach Gregoire's expertise flourished as he led high school wrestlers to numerous successes. As head JV and Assistant Varsity Coach, his teams achieved remarkable feats, boasting multiple sectional place finishers and even contenders at the state tournament. It was during these formative coaching years that Coach Gregoire honed his craft, pitting his skills against some of the state's finest teams and coaches.
With a desire to impart his love for wrestling to younger generations, Coach Gregoire shifted his focus to the peewee level upon joining the elementary school faculty. Taking the reins of the club from its founder and also head varsity coach, Coach Dan Bechand, Coach Gregoire nurtured its growth, cultivating a team that now thrives with as many as 50 students annually. Under his guidance, Junior Knights Wrestling Club continues to expand, offering elementary students unparalleled opportunities to embrace the sport and all its benefits. Through Coach Gregoire's leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment, the Junior Knights Wrestling Club continues to flourish, shaping the future champions of tomorrow both on and off the mat.
