Class overview:

Welcome to Band!

Band Students meet for a  once a week lesson, as well as have weekly rehearsals:

RPES Rehearsals: After school band Mon. and Wed. (with teacher recommendation)

KMS 6: Every Other Day! (check schedule)

From starting at RPES to starting in 6th grade at KMS, band students in this program perform at concerts and school wide/community events. Students range in all levels, but come together to perform fun pieces for all in attendance. Lansingburgh Band (RPES/KMS 6) is proud to introduce its skilled set of musicians and performers.

"When you get together in a group, it becomes like a family, with the different personalities and the politics that comes with being in a band. It's different than bringing something in by yourself." - Albert Hammond, Jr.
RPES Band 2020-2021

"Band is not proud because it performs well. It performs well because it is proud" - George Parks

KMS 6 Band - "Sarcastic Daydreamers" - 2021-2022

"We're making music to help people think and bring them together, that's our role; we're not siding with anybody" - Steve Diggle

"We're a symphony. Our limbs and lips and skin making up the instruments, working together to create a beautiful piece of music" - Julie Cross

About me

Hello Folks!

I'm Ms. Sisti, the band teacher here at RPES and KMS (6th Grade)!

I live in Schenectady, but grew up in Riverhead, NY which is located on Long Island! I play a LOT of instruments (obviously haha!) but I started on Saxophone and Piano! I have 2 cats named Remus and Poppy, and they are my fur children.  I am apart of a HUGE Italian family, that has a family reunion every year in July!

While not at RPES or KMS, I've given talks at esteemed conferences regarding music education - most recently at the 2021 NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester NY!

I am also a researcher for the ICD, which is an online website where people can find band and all other types of music written by composers of diversity! (whether that be race, identity, etc!) as well as statistics of underrepresented composers being performed in professional ensembles!

I absolutely love Anime, The Beatles, Pokemon, Marvel Movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Tea, Beaches, Hiking, Reading (both Manga and Novels), and Video Games *I will destroy anyone in Mario Kart* (currently have a Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 4 and a Nintendo Switch so hit me up with game ideas!).

I love to collect Pins, Harry Potter and Anime Funko Pops, and play ukulele in my spare time! I also help out with the LHS/KMS Drama and Choir performances and have performed in the SCCC Wind Ensemble, Rotterdam Community Jazz Ensemble, and in pit orchestras within Delmar NY, Schenectady NY, and Clifton Park NY!
