About me
Hello Folks!
I'm Mrs. FitzSisti, the band teacher here at RPES and KMS (6th Grade)!
I live in Schenectady, but grew up in Riverhead, NY which is located on Long Island! I play a LOT of instruments (obviously haha!) but I started on Saxophone and Piano! I have 2 cats named Remus and Poppy, and they are my fur children. I am apart of a HUGE Italian family, that has a family reunion every year in July! I also recently got married to my husband Peter in August of 2024! I am now Mrs. FitzSisti forever! But don't worry, I'll still respond to Ms. Sisti lol!
While not at RPES or KMS, I've given talks at esteemed conferences regarding music education - most recently at the 2021 and 2023 NYSSMA Winter Conference in Rochester NY!
I am also greatly involved in the theatre community out in Schenectady, and have performed on stage and in the musical pit orchestras (as well as music directed!!) at SLOC, Clifton Park Not So Common Players, Fort Salem Theatre, and other local theatres in the capitol region!
I am also currently working on my doctorate degree in education - and my thesis is to be a curriculum review/analyzation of the benefits of culturally inclusive practices/strategies within performing arts ensembles!
I am also a researcher for the ICD, which is an online website where people can find band and all other types of music written by composers of diversity! (whether that be race, identity, etc!) as well as statistics of underrepresented composers being performed in professional ensembles!
I absolutely love Anime, The Beatles, Pokemon, Marvel Movies, Star Wars, Star Trek, Tea, Beaches, Hiking, Reading (both Manga and Novels), and Video Games *I will destroy anyone in Mario Kart* (currently have a Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation 4 and a Nintendo Switch so hit me up with game ideas!).
I love to collect Pins, Harry Potter and Anime Funko Pops, and play ukulele in my spare time! I also help out with the LHS/KMS Drama and Choir performances and have performed in the SCCC Wind Ensemble and the Rotterdam Community Jazz Ensemble!!
